Bonita (Bonny) Myers

The Artist

Bonny Myers (Bonita) was formally introduced to art in children’s classes at the age of 10, and then studied with adults at 13 in Quebec City. Much later she created with clay and Folk Arts while being a busy wife, mother of three children and part-time RN. She returned to painting after her children had grown when she attended classes for three years in Calgary using Acrylic medium. She has also studied with numerous diverse artists in workshops and classes in Canada and abroad.

Participating with Studio Madrona, her paintings were exhibited at Goward House in May and November 2006, in Saanich Municipal Hall in July 2007, at the Artists Corner in September 2007 and the CACGV and elsewhere in Victoria.

Styles and techniques of many famous artists’ works in galleries and museums around the world have been the inspiration for realistic interpretations of life and landscapes that Bonny paints. Her watercolour en Plein Air sketches, photographs and memories are the tools she uses to paint landscapes and details of local and travel scenes, recreating the feelings each vista portrays to her. Bonny’s works, signed BONITA, are currently in private collections in Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal, Sydney (Australia), Vancouver, and Victoria. She now lives inVictoria with her husband and is a member of the Victoria Sketch Club, Oak Bay Art Club and Saanich Peninsula Arts and Crafts Society (SPAC).
