Janice Graham was born in south western Ontario where she lived nearly all her life before moving to Victoria four years ago. Painting and drawing were favourite pastimes as she was growing up. A highlight of her recollections was being awarded the grade eight graduation prize in art at her school in London, Ontario. For a few years Janice taught secondary school art. Her subsequent education was in different fields but painting and drawing remained a recreational interest. For many years Janice was a member of the Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre in Ingersoll, Ontario where she painted with the Studio Group and took numerous workshops. Since moving to Victoria Janice has taken classes at the Victoria College of Art and the Victoria Island School of Art. Janice paints in oils, watercolours and acrylics. She enjoys working with cheerful bright colours in a variety of ways.
